Our History
In 2010, there were over 4,000 dogs and cats euthanized at the city’s shelter.
Community leaders and animal welfare advocates Susie Hitchcock-Hall, LuAnn Morgan, and Paul O’Neill decided to step in. They set out with a clear and simple mission: to save as many cats and dogs as they can.
Together, they founded Midland Humane Coalition (MHC) with a mission to rescue healthy, adoptable pets from the Midland Animal Services euthanasia list and find them permanent homes.
On November 12, 2011, Midland Humane Coalition, in partnership with PetSmart Charities, first opened the doors of our Enhanced Adoption Center.
Since that day, our Enhanced Adoption Center has helped get over 7,000 cats and dogs adopted.
Today, MHC has grown into a multi-service adoption center, providing not only shelter for pets but also essential animal services to the Midland community.
