About Us
There are too many cats and dogs wandering the streets of Midland. They’re homeless, hungry, sometimes hurt and scared.
These pets often end up in the city’s shelter; and when nobody claims them, they are eventually placed on a euthanasia list.
The reality is, there just isn’t enough room or resources for unclaimed or unwanted pets.
Midland Humane Coalition(MHC) believes that there is hope for cats and dogs who are in perfectly good health and have wonderful personalities to have a brighter, happier future. And we are working to give them just that - a second chance, a new path.
We’re proud to say that we are a 100% no-kill facility. Our ultimate goal is to help make Midland a 100% no-kill community.
We work with Midland Animal Services and other local rescue groups to select healthy & adoptable pets, pull them from the euthanasia list and take them under our wing so we can find them new homes.
We’re working to connect pets with caring people who can provide them with permanent and loving homes. We will continue to do our work until we live in a world where we no longer need to exist - one where no cat or dog ever has to spend its last days in a shelter.
Our Mission
Midland Humane Coalition (MHC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to partner with the community of Midland to end euthanasia of animals and to find Furr-Ever Homes for healthy, adoptable cats and dogs.
Our Work
MHC is more than just a shelter or adoption center. We’re dedicated not only to saving, but also improving the lives of cats and dogs. We’re busy working pet issues at all angles and providing accessible and affordable services to the community.
We are working on...
- Adoptions. We’re continuously working to ensure our rescued cats and dogs get adopted.
- Vaccinations. We host affordable public vaccination clinics that help protect thousands of pets from disease.
- Microchipping. We offer microchipping services that can help ensure the safe return of lost pets.
- Spaying/Neutering. We advocate for and offer low-cost spaying and neutering options for pets.
- TNR Program. We started the Trap Neuter Return program to help control and protect the stray cat populations.
- Laws. We’ve partnered with the City of Midland to create an ordinance that require pets which are repeatedly impounded to be altered.
- Education. We’re working on educating the public on pet care. Animal Welfare Education promotes knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and values related to human involvement in the lives of animals.
Once our Wellness and Treatment Center is up and running, we hope to boost our impact and do more in the name of preserving and improving the lives of pets.
We cannot do this important work without your help. Together, we can change the life of pets in Midland for the better.
